Outside bike storage

I’ve been doing some nifty DIY over the weekend, tweaking a wooden log store so we can lock up our bikes outside the front of the house. My big worry is that anyone wanting to “borrow” the bikes will think they’re locked to the flimsy wooden slats of the store and not the sturdy iron railings hidden behind. That’s where a new sign comes in and Signomatic comes into its own.

Check out their website.

Finally got around to painting the garden shed over the bank holiday weekend.  We decided to go for Farrow and Ball’s Manor House Grey in the end and really delighted with the results.  Really transforms the garden and by sheer luck we had two bits of wood which were the exact right size to put around the bottom to neaten it up.  All that is left to do is pour a glass of prosecco and recline in the hammock…

Yippee! We have shelves in our cupboard under the stairs at last! Which means I have finally been able to unpack the last two boxes! Well, that’s if you don’t count the two in the loft and the other one full of books… But we’re getting there slowly!

Our gorgeous brissi mirror has arrived and is up! So pleased with how it is looking in the room. Small issue with the floor paint going a bit yellow, so will have to do another coat or two in due course, but overall making great progress considering how far we’ve come!

FINALLY we are the proud owners of a kitchen table and sideboard!  Hurrah!  Definitely worth the rather long wait.  I can see we are going to enjoy many happy feasts around this table and loving the fact we have the perfect home for the gorgeous vintage kitchen scales.  Bring on the dinner parties…

First cushions have arrived! The snug is getting snugglier by the minute…

Got our hands on a few lovely old wine crates to use as storage in the funny-shaped cubby hole on the way up the stairs!  so far they’re being used to stash our wine away which is both very convenient and very apt!

Dicky Ducky has taken pride of place over the fireplace in the snug.  He fills the space perfectly and it’s great to be able to give him a proper home after he was squashed on the staircase in the old flat!

WE HAVE GRASS!  OK, I admit it looks like a couple of patches of moss, but I promise there are real blades of actual grass poking through.  In fact over the last 48 hours the whole garden has really started to spring into life and there is a definite green sheen in evidence!
